Chooi Peng graduated with Bachelor of Law (Second Class Upper Honours) from the University of Leicester, England in 2000. Chooi Peng commenced her career in civil litigation in 2003 after admission to the Malaysian Bar in January 2003. Chooi Peng spent 7 years sharpening her skills in banking and general litigation and mastering her forte in the niche specialized area of the probate and administration law before joining Justin and Alvin as a team in end of 2009 which fortified the formidable team. Chooi Peng specializes in the area of General Litigation, Banking & Finance, Estate Law, Trust Law, Probate and Administration and Will writing. She has represented clients in a wide variety of dispute resolution and litigation cases and conducted a wide variety of contested litigation cases in the areas of banking and financial disputes, land disputes, defamation, winding up and bankruptcy actions, debt recovery, foreclosure actions, reach of contract, landlord and tenant disputes and forfeiture of properties. Chooi Peng’s forte is also in probate and administration actions, Will writing, estate administration and management as well as estate disputes which involve trust law. Chooi Peng’s experience is very extensive in relation to business/ commercial and civil litigation disputes, including the following : Pre-emptive remedies and urgent applications to preserve assets or the status quo, including various forms of injunctive applications – prohibitory and mandatory, Fortuna injunction (to prevent the presentation of Winding-up Proceeding), Anton Piller and also Mareva Injunctions. Banking and financial disputes – Chooi Peng has rich experience in banking and financial litigation, acting for the Bank for debt recoveries including foreclosure actions as well as defending the Bank against suits by others. Company and shareholders’ disputes – Chooi Peng has also conducted many company and shareholders’ disputes and related actions by or against a company including winding-up petitions based on just and equitable principles and other grounds apart from insolvency, minority actions, derivative actions, applications for validation orders as well as for accounts and audit under the Companies Act 1965. Winding-up actions against companies, insolvency law and bankruptcy actions against individuals. Land disputes and removal of caveats – Chooi Peng has experience in land disputes including specific performance of sale and purchase contracts, removal of caveats, charge actions as well as Landlord and Tenant disputes and obtaining of vacant possession of immovable property. Defamation – Chooi Peng has conducted cases involving the tort of defamation Contempt of Court - Chooi Peng has taken up cases to prosecute applications of contempt of court. Sale of Goods and Services and other commercial debt recovery cases – Chooi Peng has vast experience in this area which is considered the “bread and butter” of practice and is usually involved in substantial claims on behalf of the Plaintiff to recover debts and the execution process there after. Chooi Peng also has valuable experience in various other types of litigations including Tort, Probate & Administration, contested Divorce and Matrimonial Disputes.
